Public Pay Figures Released

In by Kit on September 20, 2010 at 14:32
Gus O’Donnell, cabinet secretary and head of the home civil service has taken home a pay packet of over £250k

program which I have recently been working on for the Bureau of Investigative Journalism in conjunction with Panorama is due to be broadcast tonight at Panorama’s usual time of 8.30 pm on BBC one. The program is a study of public sector pay featuring data compiled by the Bureau which found that almost 40,000 public sector workers earn over £100,000 and that 9,000 of these earn over the PM’s salary of £142,500. The story has already broken on the BBC news sites here with other major news outlets due to follow tomorrow. In the current climate of public sector cuts the program could be vital to understanding the reason for the extent of public sector budgets and possible ways of decreasing the country’s budget defecit.
